College Scholarships Available for Public Housing and Section 8 Residents

The Texas Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (TXNAHRO) offers scholarships each year to high school seniors living in public housing or participating in the Section 8 program.

For 2024, TXNAHRO is providing:

  • 1 $2,500 scholarship
  • 8 $1,000 scholarships

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a resident of public housing or Section 8 in Texas
  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Demonstrate excellent school attendance
  • Have high academic achievement
  • Show leadership and motivation

Interested seniors should apply online at txnahro.org/about-us/programs. The deadline is February 23, 2024. Applicants must submit:

  • Housing agency certification form signed by the Executive Director
  • High school transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Recent photo
  • 3-minute video describing your goals
