Throughout the months of October and November, the HATC Foundation partnered with the UT School of Nursing to conduct public health efforts at HATC communities. The School of Nursing was able to bring VAMOS, their mobile COVID-19 vaccination program, to Alexander Oaks, Summit Oaks, Eastern Oaks, and Manor Town Apartments. In total, approximately 25 HATC residents received their first, second, and/or booster shots at these on-site clinics.

As part of these public health efforts, students from the School of Nursing also conducted door-to-door inquiries regarding health and wellness. Residents were surveyed regarding healthcare needs and access, childcare needs, healthcare cost burdens, financial assistance options, and access to medications. The HATC Foundation will utilize the results of these surveys to assess needs, connect residents with useful resources, and formulate future programming related to health and wellness.

“We are excited to forge this partnership and begin the process of directing more public health resources to underserved communities,” said HATC Executive Director Patrick B. Howard. “These efforts are part of a commitment to meet more than just the housing needs of our residents and clients.”
