MANOR – On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, the Housing Authority of Travis County (HATC) held a groundbreaking for the construction of its brand-new apartment complex. Manor Town II will be situated adjacent to HATC’s 33-unit Manor Town Senior Apartments, which has stood as a pillar of affordable housing for Manor’s seniors since 2004. This new development will bring an additional 20 units of income-restricted, age-restricted living to the area. Age-restricted developments of this type require all residents will be at least 55 years of age. Manor Town II will have 12 one-bedroom units (11 @ 30% Area Median Income, 1 @ 50% Area Median Income) and 8 two-bedroom units (7 @ 30% Area Median Income, 1 @ 50% Area Median Income).
The Groundbreaking drew a large crowd, including the City of Manor Mayor, Dr. Christopher Harvey; City Manager Scott Brown; City Councilman Aaron Moreno; Travis County Precinct One Commissioner Jeff Travillion; HATC Board Chair Sharal Brown; several other dignitaries, HATC leadership, and other community stakeholders.
“We are proud of our existing partnership with the town of Manor,” said CEO/Executive Director of HATC Patrick Howard, “are excited about continuing to expand upon that relationship with Manor Town II. We understand that there is a large need for affordable housing for Manor’s seniors, and so this project represents important inroads in addressing this need.”
Manor Town II is slated to be completed in July 2024.
