The Housing Authority of Travis County (HATC) is thrilled to announce its sponsorship of the 47th Annual Decker Challenge, one of Austin's most iconic running events. This year's race will take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Travis County Expo Center in East Austin, with the first race beginning at 8:00 AM.

For decades, the Decker Challenge has been a staple in the Austin running community, offering a challenging course and a memorable experience for participants of all levels. Organized by the non-profit Austin Runners Club, the event features a Half Marathon and a 5K, welcoming both seasoned runners and walkers.

HATC's sponsorship underscores our commitment to fostering healthy living and making a positive impact in our local community. The Deck the Halls 5K will specifically raise funds to empower HATC residents who are pursuing higher education, vocational training, or other opportunities to build skills and advance toward self-sufficiency. This partnership aligns directly with our mission to provide supportive services and empower low-income families across Travis County.

Proceeds from the overall Decker Challenge event support Marathon Kids, a vital organization dedicated to encouraging children to become active and develop healthy habits from a young age.
