Dear Friends,

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Housing Authority of Travis County is joining the nationwide effort to honor survivors, remember those we have lost, and support those currently battling this disease.

In our commitment to the holistic well-being of our residents, we are launching an initiative to raise awareness and provide resources on breast cancer prevention and early detection. Research shows that housing assistance can improve access to health services, such as cancer screenings, for low-income women, underscoring the critical link between stable housing and health outcomes.

Our planned activities for the month include:

  • Distributing educational materials to all residents on the importance of regular screenings.
  • Partnering with local health organizations to provide information on low-cost mammograms and other services.
  • Wearing pink and displaying pink ribbons throughout our community spaces to raise visibility for the cause.
  • Highlighting support services for those navigating a breast cancer diagnosis.

Our community is our strength, and we are dedicated to ensuring our residents have the information and support they need to stay healthy.

Thank you for your partnership. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer.

Sincerely,

Patrick B. Howard, Executive Director / CEO
