Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Do you have expertise and a commitment to improving the lives of low-income families in Travis County? The Housing Authority of Travis County (HATC) is looking for a dedicated individual to join our Board of Commissioners.

About Us

Created in 1975 by a resolution of the Travis County Commissioner’s Court, HATC provides safe, decent, and sanitary housing for low-income families in Travis County. Our mission is to offer affordable housing and support services to foster stability and self-sufficiency among our residents.

Role of the Board

The HATC Board of Commissioners is the governing body that determines policies and resolutions of HATC. Board members play a critical role in approving decisions that shape the direction of current and future programs and authorizing the actions of the Executive Director and staff.

Responsibilities of a Board Member

  • Attend regular board meetings to discuss and make decisions on current projects and initiatives.
  • Review and approve board resolutions to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Help shape the strategic direction of HATC by providing insights and expertise.
  • Collaborate with other board members and HATC staff to fulfill our mission of providing affordable housing and empowering residents.

Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to HATC’s mission and values.
  • Experience in fields such as housing, real estate, community development, social services, or a related area.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Term Details

Board members are appointed by the Travis County Commissioners Court and serve two-year terms. Current board member terms and their expertise can be viewed on our Board of Commissioners page.
