The Love Yourself Wellness Clinic, held on February 22, 2025, at Alexander Oaks, proved to be a resounding success, bringing together over 30 residents for an afternoon focused on self-care, mental wellness, and fun! Hosted by the Housing Authority of Travis County (HATC), the event offered a variety of hands-on workshops, interactive activities, and vital wellness resources.
Attendees enjoyed a range of enriching experiences, including DIY stress ball making, Narcan training, and an exciting vision board session. These activities were carefully designed to promote mindfulness and self-care. We were also fortunate to have powerful sessions led by Phoenix House Texas and Communities for Recovery, while the Scouting America Capitol Area Council kept the children engaged with fun activities.
Beyond the scheduled activities, the clinic fostered a strong sense of community. As Chessie Floyd, BIGAustin Self Sufficiency Case Manager/Coordinator, shared, "This event was a reminder that self-care is for everyone." The positive energy was palpable, with participants learning, laughing, and growing together. With six sign-ups for the Breathe Afterschool Program and 12 prize giveaways, along with high-energy competitions, the event made a lasting impact.
LaDricka from Carleton Companies echoed this sentiment, stating, "The energy was amazing. Families came together, had fun, and walked away with tools to support their wellness journey."
HATC is committed to providing resources and opportunities that support the well-being of our residents. The Love Yourself Wellness Clinic is just one example of our ongoing efforts to foster a thriving community.
