March is National Social Work Month, and the Housing Authority of Travis County (HATC) would like to recognize the invaluable contributions of resident social worker Jackie Garcia.

Social workers across the nation play a critical role in removing obstacles that prevent individuals from leading fulfilling and enriched lives. At HATC, Jackie’s essential work is squarely centered on connecting housing security with the health of residents. She provides important case management, mental health support, and links residents to resources. This includes helping individuals find vital assistance, such as food, furniture, and rental support, as well as facilitating access to essential services like healthcare and transportation. By focusing on both individual stability and systemic improvements, social workers like Jackie transform housing from simply a place to live into a foundation for overall well-being.

Ms. Garcia works closely with participants in HATC's Continuum of Care Program to connect them with resources that improve their daily living situations. She tailors her support to empower clients to navigate complex systems and access the services they need.

During this special month, HATC celebrates the outstanding work of Jackie Garcia and recognizes her significant impact on the community.
